NABTEB warning to state officers and centers. The National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) has warned state officers and centers on extorting money from candidates applying for the examination. The management also made known a new strategy for registration procedures effective from November/December, 2018.

According to the Chairman NABTEB, he said, “I have started getting names of examination centers and their coordinators, where candidates were made to pay more than N11,500. I have also been informed that the amount charged ranged from N11,500 to N40,000 per candidate beside other fees made by the candidates. Which some of the centers charge or give candidate opinion to pay.

Also, any state officer for whom evidence will be presented to the Governing Board of the Management for extorting money from candidates by any Examination Center, shall not only be SUSPENDED after an investigation by the ICPC. ICPC, by law, partners with NABTEB for the regulation of their operation. Such Officers or Centers shall refund all the money extorted from the candidates.

No Examination Officer or center is expected to collect more than the amount Eleven Thousand Five Hundred Naira only (N11,500) from any candidate.

How to Register for NABTEB 2018/2019 Academic Session

  • Intending candidate shall make payment online after which they will choose their preferred Examination Center.
  • Registered and Approved Examination Centers will be uploaded on the new NABTEB website: nabteb.gov.ng. The requirement for approving and Examination Center is that they will have facilities for biometric capture and a unique code will be given to them with an agreed percentage of payment to them.
  • Look out for more updates from next year such as Computer Based Test (CBT) to replace Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) format from next year.

Objectives of NABTEB warning to state officers and centers

  1. To make the process of registration of NABTEB examination easier and faster, and free from human manipulation. For instance, if a candidate is subjected to pay any amount above the amount released by NABTEB, such candidate can easily go back to the website and change the Examination Center then give reasons which will lead to investigating such Center.
  2. NABTEB staff cannot have physical access to NABTEB money.
